History of the Church
Our History
In Spirit & Truth Christian Fellowship began as a family bible study that met every Friday evening and rotated between four or five homes. As the size of the bible study group grew, it became impractical to meet in homes. We began renting a room at the Camp Fire Girls Camp on 52nd & Sheridan in Arvada. Shortly thereafter we began Sunday morning services and Sunday School at the Camp Fire Girls Camp, with the Pastor of the Lighthouse, Apostolic Faith Assembly in Ft. Collins driving down and preaching. After approximately a year at the Camp Fire Girls facility we leased a small storefront in the Berkley Village Shopping Center at 5308 N. Sheridan Blvd., which was just across the street. It was in the storefront that I assumed the Pastoral duties, allowing my Pastor, Bruce Burgess to concentrate fully on his congregation in Ft. Collins. We were in the storefront building for almost four years until leasing a small church building near Old Town Arvada at 59th & Vance (7401 W. 59th Ave.) to accommodate growth in April of 1998. In December of 2002, we purchased our present Church Building located in West Arvada at 6524 Urban Street from the Colorado District of the Church of the Nazarene.
The Church was incorporated as a Colorado Non-profit Corporation in September of 1997. In June of 1999, In Spirit & Truth Christian Fellowship Inc. received its IRS Section 501 (c) (3) status as a Federal tax-exempt organization.
